Ariel Hernandez
Ariel Hernandez
Ariel Hernandez is a soprano and music educator from the Dallas–Fort Worth area. She is currently in her fifth year of teaching and serves as the Ninth Grade Campus Choir Director at Coppell High School.
Ariel is an active performer with the Fort Worth Chorale and has appeared with Fort Worth Opera and Atchley Opera. Her operatic credits include Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance and Pamina in The Magic Flute. She will perform as Papagena in Opera Arlington’s upcoming production of The Magic Flute on September 25.
She is honored to perform with Herstory in celebration of women composers and its mission to support women in the community.

Amy Beach
Amy Beach was an American composer and pianist recognized as one of the most accomplished female composers in history. She is notable for being the first female composer to have a symphony performed by a major orchestra. She made her public debut as a child prodigy pianist in 1883. In 1885, she performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, but after her marriage to surgeon Dr. H.H.A. Beach, she reduced her performing schedule in accordance with his wishes and focused primarily on composition. Following her husband's death in 1910, she resumed performing and toured Europe to great acclaim, often performing her own compositions until the outbreak of World War I. She was among the first American composers to gain recognition in Europe and was the first classical American composer to achieve success without the benefit of European study.

Randi Bivens
Randi Bivens is excited to be apart of Her Story! She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance from University of Texas at Arlington, and has been teaching private voice for about eight-years. She is a lover for performing, and has been singing since a very young age. She has been in several choirs, operas, and musicals around the DFW area.
For students in her voice lessons, she likes to focus on the aspects of performing, such as artistry, presentation, and technique. Ms. Bivens also loves for her students to have fun and find their creative and confident voice in singing, as music is an important outlet to have in their daily lives! Outside of teaching, she enjoys painting, crafting, playing with her two cats, and spending time with family and friends.

3! As a member of the adult ensemble and a featured soloist. I am also secretary of the Her Story: A Benefit Concert board.
Zina Goldrich
Zina Goldrich
Zina Goldrich is an award-winning composer, conductor, musical director, and performing artist.
Her romantic comedy and theatre songs, written with longtime collaborator, Marcy Heisler, have been sung around the world by Broadway stars.
How many Her Story's have you participated in?
Two years but I was a part of the first annual concert.
Katarina Cashon
Katarina Cashon
Katarina Cashon is a soprano born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. Katarina started their musicianship at a young age by taking voice and piano lessons in addition to being in a local children’s choir. Graduating from high school, she decided to pursue music at Tarrant County College and then graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor’s in vocal performance. Katarina has been so grateful to work with the choruses of the Fort Worth Opera, Opera Arlington, and North Texas Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, it has been a pleasure to have sung solos for Her Story since 2023, and most recently their engagement in NTXSO’s Considering Matthew Shepard and understudying for Mahler’s 2nd Symphony. Katarina is thrilled to represent Her Story at the Main Street Arts Fest, and in January, to sing her first role as ‘The Second Woman’ from Dido and Aeneas with Opera Arlington.

Undine Smith Moore
Born in 1904, Undine Smith Moore was a prominent composer, teacher, and activist. During her life, she composed many works, applying gospel, spiritual, and blues, to the format of choral, piano, and mixed ensembles earning her the title of the “Dean of Black Women Composers”. The inspiration for her works stemmed from the songs her grandparents had sung during slavery. Her intelligent musicianship and astute knowledge allowed her a scholarship into Julliard School of Music but she turned it down to graduate, and eventually teach, from Virginia State College. As a professor, she toured and lectured on black composers and co-founded the Black Music Center at Virginia State College with the purpose of showcasing the contributions of black people on American music and the world. Smith Moore equated her pursuit in composition, at the end of her life, being one of not knowing that she could and the lack of encouragement to do so, but it did not stop her from obtaining accolades and honorary doctorates from Virginia State College and Indiana University, and for her commemorative work to Martin Luther King Jr being nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
Shelley Burton
Shelley Burton
Shelley, a native of Plano, TX, has performed operas, musical theatre, recitals and community outreach programs for veterans, seniors, interfaith organizations, and preschool and elementary aged children throughout Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Missouri, France, and Germany.
Shelley has a passion for new vocal works; she has created roles in five world premieres andserved as stage director for multiple new operas. Recent appearances include a tenure as a Soprano Soloist with Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church in Dallas, TX, and as a featured soloist with Her Story: A Benefit Concert and DFW Opera Underground.

Clara Edwards
Clara Edwards
Clara Edwards was an esteemed composer, singer, and songwriter, who gained notoriety in the 1920s. Originally trained as a singer, Edwards began writing music after becoming a single mother following the death of her husband. She composed over 100 works and published 60 songs for solo voice, choir, solo piano, for children's marionette plays and animated films.
How many Her Story's have you been apart of?
I have participated in 3 concerts, as both a member of the student ensemble and a feauted soloist.
Emma Crawford
Emma Crawford
Emma Crawford is a 15-year-old 10th-grade student at Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy. She is thrilled to be performing with Her Story for the third year. Her favorite roles include Gwendolyn Pigeon in The Odd Couple and Miss Honey in Matilda.
When she is not onstage, Emma is working toward earning her fourth-degree black belt and completing her Girl Scout Gold Award. She would like to thank her parents, family, and teachers for their constant encouragement and support. She is grateful for the opportunity to continue growing as a performer and sharing her love of music and theatre with others.

Jeanine Tesori
Jeanine Tesori is a composer of musical theater, opera, and film. She is a two-time recipient of the Tony Award for Best Score and a two-time Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Tesori is the founding Artistic Director of New York City Center’s Encores! Off-Center Series. She is a graduate of Barnard College and a Professor of Practice at Yale University, and is also a member of The Dramatists Guild.
Sabrina Martinez
Sabrina Martinez
Sabrina Martinez, Soprano, is a Spring 2024 graduate of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Throughout her undergraduate studies, Ms. Martinez was a member of the TAMUC Chorale, Chamber, and Opera Scenes Ensembles. She participated in musical productions of A Little Night Music by Stephen Sondheim, The Bridges of Madison County by Jason Robert Brown, and Mozart's Le Nozze Di Figaro.
As a Chorale and Chamber Choir member, Ms. Martinez performed in churches and schools across the DFW area. Through Chamber Choir, she performed at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, Catedral de San Juan Bautista in Puerto Rico, and the Natural Bridge Caverns in New Braunfels, Texas.
Ms. Martinez is currently a voice instructor at Garland ISD and Richardson ISD, inspiring young singers to pursue their musical passions and fostering discipline through consistent practice.
